Scary Stories!

If anyone is in the mood to read something spooky for Halloween, one of my favorite Blogs has compiled an excellent list:

http://www.themarysue.com/30-spooky-story-recommendations-for-all-hallows-read/?pid=459

I must add Edith Wharton to the list of "classic" authors. She writes some creepy short stories!  I think "All Souls" is my favorite!

Oh, and BUNNICULA made the list. Love those books, especially Howl-iday Inn <3

  1. Great list. Thanks Kandace.

I still say that the most frightening thing I've ever read is Stephen King's "Salem's Lot." There is a scene in the book where a character is reading about vampires (I think), and he puts down his book, looks at his bedroom window, and sees a vampire looking into his room. Gives me the creeps every time. My description does it no justice.

  2. Klay, any instance where something is behind someone/spying/in the house/looking without someone knowing creeps me out (like the sheet in Paranormal Activity 3). Eep! I've honestly never read any Stephen King other than Cujo in like 6th grade because I loved books about animals. BIG MISTAKE! I think the someone-looking-in factor is why Rear Window will always be in my Top 3 favorite films of all time. So much suspense and spying! I can't handle it! Oh, and Jimmy Stewart was Your-Deity-of-Choice's gift to Hitchcock & Grace Kelly was Said Deity's gift to well...the world. I think I'll leave "Salem's Lot" alone for now, but if I need a spooky story for next Halloween, I know where to go! Recommendations are always much appreciated.
